Since its debut in the Indian market, the Kia Seltos has been one of the strongest performers in the mid size SUV segment. Known for stylish design and a feature rich package, the first generation model earned quick popularity. The new generation Seltos builds on that footprint with a deeper set of updates, revised chassis tuning, expanded dimensions, upgraded electronics, and a thoroughly refreshed interior.
This review follows a complete walkaround approach starting from the exterior, key fob tricks, usability quirks, and moving into the redesigned cabin. The evaluation also compares the SUV against the previous Seltos and the latest Creta (Sira) to give a realistic sense of improvements. Check out our Tata Sierra drive review for more comparisons.
Kia has evolved the silhouette without abandoning the recognisable Seltos stance. The most significant structural updates include:
The lowered roofline and rounded upper edges make the SUV look sleeker, while the longer stance is noticeable in profile. The lighting package has been dramatically improved, featuring swipe DRL animations, sequential indicators, and a two-step brightness ramp of the LED headlamps.
The front houses a large grille, 360° camera, radar modules, fog lamps, and wide set parking sensors. The 18 inch alloy wheels (255 section MRF Wanderer tires) now feature neon detailing near the brake calipers. Proximity based keyless entry allows the SUV to lock/unlock automatically as the driver approaches or moves away.
The redesigned key offers:
A notable omission remains: the sunroof cannot be controlled via key fob.
The connected LED tail lamp animation mirrors the front swipe sequence. Lower variants may not get the connecting bar illumination.
Boot capacity increases from 433L → 447L. Although the boot floor is longer, Kia still leaves unused vertical space below the panel, which could be better utilised.
The SUV continues with a 255 section spare tyre and now adds gas struts because the tailgate is heavier. Functional roof rails remain (subject to Indian carrier regulations).
The new Seltos continues with the familiar engine lineup:
With reduced height and improved aerodynamics, plus a lighter body compared to the Creta, fuel efficiency improvements are expected.
Safety Update: Kia is actively targeting improved NCAP ratings after past 3-star issues. Upper trims now offer Level 2+ ADAS as standard.
Interior quality remains a Kia highlight: soft touch materials, excellent plastic textures, and tight fit and finish. A small flaw was noted in the folding edge material not sitting perfectly flush on two separate units.
The new tri-screen layout includes the digital instrument cluster, the main infotainment display, and a passenger side information screen derived from the Sira’s electronic architecture.
The GTX+O variant carries the richest feature list. The following table summarises its key enhancements:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Memory seats & ORVMs | HUD settings stored with presets |
| 10 way power seats | Ventilation and electric lumbar support |
| Electric parking brake | Auto release when shifter is in D |
| Steering | Tilt & telescopic; drive & traction modes |
| Ambient lighting | Linked to drive modes (sport = red, eco = green, normal = white) |
Additional highlights include a reflection type HUD, traction modes (Snow, Mud, Sand), three drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport), auto hold, downhill brake control, and accessible ADAS toggles on the steering wheel.
Top variants receive a 12.3 inch infotainment system, while lower variants get a 10.25 inch screen. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay remain available on most trims.
Key features include:
Rear seat comfort has improved significantly, thanks to better thigh support, recline function, and adequate headroom. AC vents, Type-C charging ports, ISOFIX mounts, and one-touch windows enhance usability.
However, the cabin width still limits seating to 2 adults + 1 child for long journeys.
This new generation is an incremental but meaningful update rather than a radical overhaul. Improvements in design, electronics, seat comfort, dimensions, and ADAS make it more rounded than ever.
A price increase of around ₹1.3-1.4 lakh over the previous version is expected. Kia’s biggest task now is delivering strong NCAP scores, which will solidify the Seltos as a segment leader. Enquire for booking.
The XL variant is offered in Graphite Grey and Aura Black for a more premium appearance.
